Sardinian (sardu, sadru, limba/lingua sarda, sardo, lingua sarda) or Sard is a Romance language spoken and written on most of the island of Sardinia (Italy). It is considered the most conservative of the Romance languages in terms of phonology and is noted for its Paleosardinian substratum.

Since 1997 Sardinian has been an official language on the island, together with other languages spoken there. It is a co-official language, jointly with Italian.
